Hopes, Dreams and The Human Spirit

Part 3-Love Letters to Life
(….and all the things I’ve been meaning to say for the last 45 years.)

Dear Life,
While we all understand how difficult you can be at times, there are so many fantastic qualities that make the journey so very worth while. Love, laughter, caring and compassion are several that, I believe, most people would have on their list. Hopes, dreams and the indelible human spirit are three more essential elements that I think we could not live without. Each has its rightful and necessary place in the odyssey of humankind.

What would any of us be without the ability to dream? To be able to see the possiblities for something greater and to ambitiously develop it. To have aspirations and goals which inspire us to push our own boundaries, which in turn, helps us to grow into finer people. Our world has been touched and changed by a diverse group of amazing dreamers; Monet, Picasso, Beethoven, Mozart, Shakespeare, Aristotle, Frank Lloyd Wright and Einstein, to name a very few. Each and every dream that is realized, is like a seed, it expands the possibilities of every future dream. It’s a beautiful thing.

I’m not sure that any dream could manifest without hope. Somewhere in each of us, we carry a light, a spark, a flame, a fire. It’s an unshakable belief in something bigger than we are. Whether that be our life’s work, our family or spiritual beliefs, it drives us forward, even when we feel tired or defeated. Unfortunately, there are times we forget it’s there, but the great thing about hope is that, with the support of others, who also carry the flame, we can be reminded of our own. Indeed, there will always be hope.

This is where the indelible human spirit comes in. God knows we have all been broken at times in our life. Maybe even to the point of feeling irreparable, but if there is always hope, there is always the possibility for healing. There isn’t a person on Earth who hasn’t dealt with loss, of some sort, in their life. It could have been heartbreak, betrayal or “failure”, but at some point, we’ve all been touched by grief in our life. Yet, even still, most people will find a way to go on and not only do some people go on, but they thrive, flourish and become better, in spite of it. To see a person overcome great odds is so unbelievably inspiring and it spreads hope to the many who face similar obstacles. This, in turn, allows people to dream and aspire to greater personal achievements.
It’s all quite miraculous and such a beautiful cycle.

Every single day I’m in awe of how brilliant you are.

Sincerely,
โ™ˆThe Crazy Celt ๐Ÿ’š

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words. It has been such a blessing to find a forum where I can combine my photography with my writing.
You are right about hopes and dreams being the engine of our lives. I like the analogy.
